A pair of 19th Century French ormulu floorstanding candelabra by Ernest Albert Carrier-Belleuse (1824 -1887), the six branch candle sconces over a bronze reeded plain columns on a scroll stepped base mounted with two seated figures, one holding a vase, height 147cm, signed to the reverse of the plinth base A. Carrier.
Provenance - purchased by the current owner from Boye's Auctioneers, Copenhagen, Denmark - two day sale 25th and 26th May 1997 Lot number 65.
The holes are where the candelabra have been drilled to accomodate electric cables. There are drill holes to the rear of the bases and pedestals and then also three holes to the top of each pedestal and then a drill hole in the sconce and candle holder of each fitting. There is no longer any electrical cabling present. Half of the bow is missing from Diana the Huntress to the base of one of the candelabra.
