King Edward VII, born Albert Edward on November 9, 1841, was the eldest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. He ascended the throne in 1901 after his mother's death and reigned until his own in 1910. His reign marked the beginning of the Edwardian era, a period characterized by social change and the decline of Victorian conservatism.
Known for his affable personality and diplomatic acumen, Edward played a significant role in modernizing the British monarchy and fostering international relations. He supported military and naval reforms, including the modernization of the Home Fleet, and was instrumental in establishing the Anglo-French Entente Cordiale in 1904. His efforts in diplomacy earned him the nickname "Uncle of Europe" due to his extensive familial ties across European royal families.
