An early 19th Century Regency tortoiseshell tea caddy of inverted breakfront form, inlaid with white metal wirework, mother of pearl and abalone shell forming floral sprays, with a pagoda shaped lid opening to reveal a twin section interior, raised to later replaced bun feet, some damages, height 13.5cm, width 20cm and depth 12.5cm

Some small sections of loss to the mother of pearl and abalone shell inlay in places. The wire inlay has lifted to the rear right hand corner of the lid. There is a chip out of the front left hand corner of the lid. There is a 15mm x 5mm chip out of the underside of the left hand edge of the lid. The tortoiseshell veneer is lifting to the rear of the caddy and there is a small chip out of the corner of the veneer panel. Chips to both rear corners. A 35mm x 10mm section of tortoiseshell veneer that is missing along the rear edge. The bun feet appear to be later replacements, but have been on a long time.
There is a 20mm x 10mm section of ivory veneer that is missing from the corner of the underside of the lid. Hairline cracks to the ivory veneer adjacent to the hinges. A 100mm x 8mm section of ivory veneer that is missing along the inside border of the caddy. There are chips to the tortoiseshell veneers on the internal lift off covers. A 20mm x 16mm section of tortoiseshell veneer has been repaired to the corner of the right hand internal cover and there is a triangular shaped repaired section of veneer to the opposing corner.
There is no key to the caddy.
