A George III enamel patch box, circa 1700, rectangular form, the cover with oval portrait panel of a young woman, in purple bonnet and black dress, within a border of painted flowers and raised gilt scrolls over cornflower blue ground, the body decorated with floral vignettes, the base with gilt framed cartouche with sail boat and ruins, width 8cm, some damage and restoration.
Infilled small dots to lid which fluoresce under UV light indicating spots of overpainting, wear to gilding and enamel, internal cracks.
