London delftware, a blue dash Royal commemorative charger, circa 1700, attributed to Norfolk House, depicting Queen Anne holding an orb and sceptre, flanked by Initials A R, and sponged trees and shrubs, in tonal blue, green and yellow, some losses and minor damage, diameter 35cm.
Queen Anne, was the younger daughter of James II. Her reign (1702-14), saw the end of the Stuart dynasty and laid the way for the Georgian era. Queen Anne completed the building of the baroque palace at Hampton Court Palace, and lived at Kensington Palace. In 1714, Queen Anne died, the last Stuart monarch. Sophia of Hanover had died only a few weeks previously, and so her eldest son George, Elector of Hanover became George I of Great Britain.
