A late 18th Century Staffordshire Prattware pottery tea canister, circa 1790, of shouldered reeded form, the opposing faces with relief moulded bust portraits of King George III in regal profile with sash and orders, above lion's mask and flowering foliate scrolls, height 16cm.
King George III (1738–1820) reigned as King of Great Britain and Ireland from 1760 to 1820, and as King of Hanover from 1814 to 1820. He was the first British monarch born in England since the Norman Conquest and the first to use English as his first language. His reign was marked by significant events that shaped both British and world history
