Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee in 1887 marked the 50th anniversary of her reign and was celebrated as a grand imperial occasion throughout Britain and the wider British Empire. On June 20th 1887, a Thanksgiving service was held at Westminster Abbey, attended by members of the royal family, foreign dignitaries, and representatives from across the empire. Queen Victoria participated in a public procession through London, where huge crowds gathered to cheer her, reflecting both her popularity and the pride in Britain’s global power. Celebrations were held across the empire, with parades, public holidays, and the creation of commemorative items and monuments.
