Edward Barnsley - A pair of oak standard chairs.
Provenance - Formerly the property of Robert Dudley Best of Best & Lloyd Ltd, the inventor of the 'Bestlite'. A hand-written note to Mr Best dated July 1987 from Annette Caruthers on Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museums note paper refers to information noted in Edward Barnsley's client book at the Edward Barnsley Workshop, Froxfield, Petersfield, Hants :-

There is wear and damage to each of the woven grass drop-in seat panels. Some fading, scuffs and scratches to each of the chair frames, commensurate with age. The frames are both generally structurally sound.
