A late 18th Century porcelain figural bust, circa 1780, modelled as King George III in sideways pose with sash and orders, on swept socle base, attributed to Bow, height 25cm.

King George III was the King of Great Britain and later the United Kingdom from 1760 to 1820, one of the longest reigns in British history. His rule saw major events such as the American Revolution, the rise and fall of Napoleon, and significant political and social change at home. Known for his dedication to duty and interest in agriculture and the arts, George III also suffered from recurring mental illness, which led to a regency under his son in his later years. Despite challenges, he remained a symbol of stability during a turbulent era.
