A late 18th Century Castleford type white felspathic smear glazed stoneware teapot and drop-in cover, circa 1798, with octagonal moulded body and painted edging in blue enamel, opposing faces with relief moulded roundels depicting Howe and Nelson, Fort, Pyramid and Nile Crocodile to the other, flanked by relief moulded panels, height 15cm.
Lord Howe (Richard Howe, 1st Earl Howe) and Horatio Nelson were both prominent figures in the Royal Navy during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, with Lord Howe's career preceding Nelson's.
