A late 19th Century French enamelled box and cover of circular form, the lid decorated with a scene mimicking Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, from Henry d'Andely Lai d'Aristotle, within a continuous band of stylised leaves and green and black foliate lappet border, and French verse translating to 'It is true, and I say it,
that love conquers all and will conquer all, so long as these centuries last' (Aristotle's Lay, v. 577-579), painted house and cypress tree mark to base, diameter 17.5cm.
