£140
A mid Victorian amethyst brooch, circa 1860, the oval cabochon-cut amethyst, claw set within an elaborate gilt pierced and scroll work surmount with double swag chains, with a pear-cut amethyst drop, similarly set, brooch pin fitting, total weight 36.5g, 10cm x 6.5cm, in a contemporary case.
The mount is a good show.
The amethysts are well matched mid purple in colour, lacking in intensity of colour and eye visible zoning and inclusions. Both have surface scraches. Stones are bright.
Mount has a number of dents and a couple of dents to the scroll work towards the top of the upper mount. Some solder work to the ropework scroll work.
