A large early 19th Century Staffordshire pearlware lustre jug, of ovoid form with swept collar and loop handle, the body transfer printed with a masted frigate titled ‘The True Blooded Yankee’ in reference to 1812 warship, opposing royal reference depicting the Prince of Wales with Caroline and their daughter Charlotte and inscribed pages 'Vide Auditace' (see hear be silent) and a central panel below the spout depicting a hunting scene dedicated to Thomas Kemp, below a hops and barley border, height 21cm.
n literature, the True-Blooded Yankee was also the name of an American privateer ship during the War of 1812. According to a Tumblr post referencing Captain Frederick Marryat's novel Frank Mildmay, the ship was involved in naval engagements against British vessels. The novel describes the True-Blooded Yankee as being captured by the British, highlighting the perilous nature of privateering during the war
